Role Responsibilities:
As a Burntsand consultant, your duties will include interacting with user, business and executive groups to help define the client's needs and translating those needs into a solution of value. As a partner to our clients, we do what is necessary to help them be a success. The ability to empathize with and understand the business needs of the client is one of the single most important characteristics you bring to the job as well as a great attitude toward teamwork and superb technical ability. As an Information Architect you will:
- Work within technology and package constraints to create compelling user experiences including intranets and extranets, custom desktop applications, and content-managed web sites.
- Consult as business analysis and taxonomy expert, helping leading companies to organize and categorize information for ease of retrieval and use.
- Work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams including customer stakeholders, project managers, business analysts, designers, developers, testers, and systems personnel
- Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle
Role Requirements:
- Excellence in problem-solving and idea generation
- Site mapping, wireframing and prototyping using Sketchflow, Visio, HTML, paper prototypes
- User testing, use cases and profile/scenario development
- Workflow and taxonomy best practices
- Highly developed communication and presentation skills
- "Light" project and team management abilities
- Creative outlook and supportive team player
- Deep understanding of consensus-building within large organizations
- Disciplined self-starter able to manage work to successful completion
- Ability to communicate ideas to designers, clients, and technologists and broker compromises
- Proven experience completing IA work for portals as well as web sites and custom applications
- Excellent specification/documentation and end user training skills
- Experience with healthcare, financial services, or media & entertainment a plus
- Work sample showing problem-solving for a complex business solution is required (wireframes are preferred)
- Microsoft Expression Studio, Visio, Office PowerPoint
- Basic HTML familiarity (coding not required but familiarity is essential)
- SharePoint product/feature knowledge a plus
- Diplomacy (all great consultants display this trait)
- Technically adept (you have current skills and are able to deploy them across a variety of projects and solutions)
- Communication (you can converse with customer and team members of all levels)
- Commitment (to your customer, your team and your project
